How do I login as root in Linux?
- Please click on the lower left corner of the icon (start button).
- Click Terminal menu item to open the terminal.
- Input the command below: % sudo su –
- Press Enter.
- Your terminal prompt will become #.
- You now have root privleges on all operations in the terminal window.
How do I sudo to root? To use a “root” terminal, type “sudo -i” at the command line. The entire group of default graphical configuration tools in Kubuntu already uses sudo, so you will be prompted for your password if needed using kdesu, which is a graphical frontend to sudo.
How do I switch to root account? To change user to root account, simply run “su” or “su –” without any arguments.
